Wisemind is a term used in psychology, describing the place where the reasonable mind, driven by logic, meets the emotional mind, which is driven by feelings. Doing psychotherapy by day and making music by night, Matthew Snyder, a.k.a. Wisemind, is a Los Angeles-based downtempo electronic music producer and multi-instrumentalist who strives to make his music both an escape for himself and those who listen to it. Having played in jazz bands, orchestras, and choirs throughout his life, he found a knack for producing after his roommate introduced him to Logic.
In 2017, 411 Music Group signed 20 of Wisemind's tracks, with his favorites making up his debut, Late Night Musings. Mostly compiled of older material, Wisemind blends and bends genres to achieve his unique, retro-yet-current sound in this tape-saturated musical journey. However, the album took on a life of it's own, and a tale about humans first contact with extraterrestrials and interstellar travel emerged. Blasting Off, the concept album, was thus born, offering another medium for listeners to engage in Late Night Musings and another vehicle to escape in!
